Healthy foods for Children   

Sadly, it is estimated that 11 million children less than 5 years in Nigeria are stunted – a condition that diminishes a child’s physical and intellectual development and puts its survival at risk (UNICEF, 2013). Our aim with this article is to sensitize and educate guardians, parents and teachers on the abundant nutrients in natural food substances capable of ensuring the health and well- being of their children - many parents are unaware that many of the foods at their fingertips can benefit their children. 
Oatmeal
Research shows that kids who eat oatmeal are better able to concentrate and pay attention in school. Fiber-rich whole grains, like oatmeal, digest slowly, providing kids with a steady stream of energy.
Fruits      
Any fruit is good for your child, providing essential vitamins and minerals. Fruits also have fiber, which keeps kids' bowel movement regular. To reap the nutritional benefits, aim to eat a variety of fruits, like berries, melon and oranges. Endeavour to go for fresh and safe fruits.
Nuts
Nuts are made up of healthy fats, which kids need for growth and development, as well as for heart health. Having a little bit of “good” fat in the morning gives your kids a burst of energy to keep them going.

Milk         
Protein and calcium in dairy products provide fuel for the brain and body. Protein helps build brain tissue, while milk's calcium keeps kids' bones and teeth strong.

Blueberries
They've ranked among the healthiest fruits for years (go, antioxidants!). Now research suggests that in addition to protecting against heart disease and diabetes and improving brain function, blueberries may also help reduce visceral "toxic" belly fat—a type of fat that has been linked to obesity and metabolic syndrome. Ways to get them in your kid's diet: They're a natural go-with 
breakfast choice and are also great in summer salads and desserts.


Tomatoes
They're loaded with lycopene—a substance that protects against many cancers. Cooking tomatoes makes them even healthier because the heat releases the lycopene. Hint: Pairing tomato foods with a good fat, like olive oil, helps the body absorb more.

Low-Fat Greek Yogurt
It contains healthy bacteria known to boost immunity and aid digestion, and has two to three times the amount of protein and less sugar than regular yogurt. Add a drizzle of honey (after age 1) for sweetness,
Cabbage
It has a mild flavor and crunch that kids tend to like better than the usual salad greens. And cruciferous veggies such as cabbage, contains phytonutrients known to lower the risk for many types of cancer, as well as improve digestion. It also helps clear harmful toxins from the body by triggering the release of enzymes whose job it is to whisk them out.

Oily fish
Oily fish (such as, Salmon, Titus and Sardines) contain heart-healthy omega-3 fats, which are also known to boost brain development, fend off depression and have superb anti-inflammatory powers. They are sure good for your kids. Preferably you can go for quail eggs, the amount of omega 3 acids and choline contents in it are good for your children’s memory. Kids love it!

I feel so convinced to upload here some pictures of the fruits and foods we asked you to take to enhance your fertility.

Friend, make no mistake about it, these foods are good for fertility. Try to take advantage of them.

Ten foods that boost Fertility
Owing to the need for us to remain fertile, it is imperative we ingest foods that will aid our abilities to procreate. In this article, we will attempt to discuss few natural foods we believe help aid fertility. This list however is not exhausted.
1. Figs (Yoruba name: Opoto)
Figs have been believed to increase fertility since the time of Ancient Greeks, and now we have scientific evidence. Figs contain a lot of iron, which are important for healthy eggs and ovulation.


 
2. Oysters
Oysters have been known to increase libido, but oysters can also be a great source for fertility because they are packed with zinc, which increases the production of good-quality eggs.







3. Berries
Any kind of berries are good at protecting eggs from damage and aging because they are full of antioxidants. Strawberries have been linked to naturally increasing a woman’s libido.





4. Beans
Beans are a lean protein and are full of iron, which helps to increase fertility and libido. Low iron levels can result in anovulation, which is when ovulation does not produce a healthy egg.

5. Pineapple:
Antioxidants rich diets have been shown to improve fertility, because free radicals also can damage the reproductive system, foods with high antioxidant activity like pineapples that battle free radicals are recommended for those trying to conceive. The antioxidants in pineapple such as vitamins C, beta carotene, copper and folate have properties that positively affect both male and female fertility. This should be taken moderately in the afternoon, particularly by people seeking to reduce their weight



6. Leafy Greens
Dark leafy greens such as spinach and broccoli are high in folate, a B vitamin that has been shown to improve ovulation. Leafy greens also naturally increase a woman’s libido.






7. Yams
Research shows yams have an ovulation stimulating substance that can help boost fertility. yam flour can be  taken in the afternoon with some spinach soup, by people  wanting to burn some fats at the same time.

8. Quail eggs

Quail eggs give you better blood circulation and strengthen your heart muscle, which in turn boosts libido and gives you better sexual performance. As an enriched source of phosphorous, proteins, and Vitamin B, Vitamin D and Vitamin E, quail eggs stimulate and nourish the prostate gland which is vital to a man's sexual health.




9. Vegetables and Fruits
Eating up to three servings a day of fresh fruits and vegetables is important for any diet, but especially important when trying to conceive. Fruits like avocado and pumpkin seeds are favourite fertility fruits; they can help people suffering from impotence.
Focus on watermelon

There has been the study to show that watermelon can have a relaxing effect on some of the body’s blood vessels without using any drug. Watermelon can even increase sperm count and improve libido in men who eat it regularly. The reason for this great effect is the crucial Citrulline phytonutrient that is in watermelon.
10. Eat more oil fishes:



Some studies show that omega 3s which are found in oily fish such as Mackerel (Titus), sardines may reduce the risk of miscarriage and improve sperm quality. The fats are essential for healthy hormone functioning.
Foods to Avoid
1.    Soy: Soy contains a compound very similar to estrogen which can cause estrogen levels to be too high and can negatively affect fertility.  please reduce the intake of soy products.
2.    Alcohol: Although it is not essential to give up alcohol if you want to fall pregnant, Danish research found that alcohol intake had a significant effect on infertility success among women above the age of 30 who drank more than seven drinks a week.
3.    Sugar: Consuming refined sugar, such as high fructose corn syrup, can cause blood sugar spikes which can negatively affect the reproductive system as well as the rest of the body. Too much refined sugar can lead to insulin resistance, which can cause or exacerbate PCOS –- a condition that affects ovulation and is one of the leading causes of female infertility.
4.    Reduce your carbohydrate intake: Some experts believe a diet high in carbohydrates like white bread and biscuits can affect conception. These foods raise blood sugar levels quickly, causing insulin surge that can impair fertility.
5.    Saturated fats: Eliminating saturated fats from the diet is important for general health; however, it’s extremely or too high of estrogen levels, which can cause infertility.
6.    Red meat: Too much red meat increases the amount of ammonia in the body, which can interfere with the implantation of the egg in the uterus. Red meat can also be detrimental for men as it increases acidity and affects sperm activity; sperm perform better in alkaline conditions.
7.    Non-organic chicken: Conventionally raised chicken is full of antibiotics and hormones which can have a detrimental effect on hormonal balance and health
Basically eat well!   
Staying well nourished increases your chances of conceiving. Make sure to include enough protein, iron, zinc and vitamin C in your diet, because deficiencies in these nutrients have been linked to lengthened menstrual cycles and therefore less frequent ovulation and a higher risk of early miscarriage.  Protein - rich foods such as lean meat (boiled chicken and turkey), fish, low fat dairy products, eggs, and beans can be taken. Vegetarians can get their complete amino acids by including flavourful combinations of protein-containing foods, such as rice and beans.

Dear friend, with the introduction and publication of the book on how to burn your stomach fats with just foods, your firm, Dowlan Concepts has this testimony to share about a wonderful woman who followed through our program for about a month among many others.

She witnessed tremendous impact on her tummy; her tummy size used to be 39 inches before she  started following our meal plan.
